"Georgia's runoff law was created in the 1960's as a way to preserve white political power. Georgia, then like now, was a majority-white state and the runoff election law intended to diminish the influence of Black politicians who could more easily win in a multi-candidate race with a plurality of the vote. Since the 1990's Democrats have won only 1 out of 7 statewide runoffs in general or special elections. Let's change that!" @soyouwanttotalkabout

If you’re able, DONATE to Movement Voter Project’s Georgia Fund to support hyper-local GOTV orgs led by people of color in that state. This Fund divides all donations evenly between 13 groups working to organize, register, and turnout voters and to build a generation of new community leaders including Black Voters Matter Fund, Fair Fight Action, the New Georgia Project, and more. All of them are invested in their communities for the long haul, not just a single election cycle and will be the most effective at getting new voters to the polls for the January Senate runoff race. See the full list of orgs in the fund link above.
